


Dr. Mark Crapo

In the late 70's Mark was a flight officer in US Air Force. It was during this time he was diagnosed with an incurable bowel disorder and told the chances for his survival were not good. He experienced severe, life threatening weight loss and developed debilitating rheumatoid arthritis. It was then he started to merge his studies of health, religion, philosophy and even martial arts to explore holistic, mind-body-spirit healing. He left the Air Force, returned to school and earned graduate and doctoral degrees in Oriental Medicine graduating in the top 5 of his class.
Dr. Mark did his clinical observation and professional internship at a multidisiplinary clinic in East Los Angeles, working alongside MD's, psychologists and Oriental medical professionals treating both the local poor as well as movie stars. He also worked in Marina Del Rey with an MD that specialized in metabolic nutrition again treating a large "Hollywood crowd". His most important clinical and professional training came from Dr. Deke Kendall in Torrance, CA. After working and learning alongside Dr. Kendall for 2 years he briefly went into private practice with him before returning in 1984 to Michigan where he became the first Doctor of Oriental Medicine and Board Certified Acupuncturist to practice in the State.
While building his practice in Michigan into one of the busiest in the entire Midwest he continued his education taking post doctoral studies at the University of San Francisco, the University of Hawaii and even doing specialty work in both China and Japan. Dr. Mark has also authored a college text book and written many articles on health, healing, herbs as wellAikido and the martial arts over the years. In the mid 80's he started giving CEUs (continuing education classes) for MD's, DO's, nurses, physical therapists, pharmacists and nurses in the United States, the Caribbean and the Philippines. Today Dr. Mark draws on his years of clinical experience to formulate herbal and nutritional supplements while also drawing on his educational background to teach and educate the public on health and nutritional issues.
